Police initially found Fidello's car at the Newport Grand Hotel, but after being tipped off by a hotel employee, they began to search for the person who was driving her car. Police discovered that the child was not being properly cared for by Fidello, who had reportedly allowed her grandson to live with her for the last eight years. The child was removed from the home.
